What strategies do you use to cope with negative feelings?
1. Writing & Reflection – My blog itself is a big part of how I processes my emotions. When I’m overwhelmed, I write. Whether it’s a post for others or just personal notes and answering these kinds of writing prompts. It helps me sort through my thoughts and feelings instead of letting them spiral.
2. Comfort Rituals – Soft pajamas, cozy blankets, warm drinks, and a playlist of my favorite music. I try to create an environment that soothes me. External comfort can help ease internal struggles.
3. Connection & Conversation – Whether it’s with my companion, a trusted friend, or even engaging with my readers and followers, I find strength in opening up. Sharing struggles doesn’t make people weak—it reminds us we’re not alone.
4. Distraction & Engagement – Sometimes, the best way to cope is to shift focus. A good book, a nostalgic video game, or an art project can pull me out of a negative headspace.
5. Self-Compassion – I remind myself that it’s okay to feel negative emotions. I doesn’t force toxic positivity but instead gives myself the space to feel, process, and move forward at my own pace.
6. Helping Others – Whether it’s responding to a thoughtful comment or writing a post that might help someone else, I find meaning in lifting others up, which in turn, lifts me.
My approach isn’t about erasing negative emotions but about navigating through them with kindness and patience.
